Douglas Lee Dorman is formally known as Lee Dorman, who was an American bass guitarist. He is best known as a member of the rock band ‘Iron Butterfly’. Lee Dorman was a famous bass guitarist from America who played for rock band Iron Butterfly. He was the original member of band since its formation in 1968 in San Diego. The band made his first record deal with Atco, a division of Atlantic Records and rose to prominence with the release of their second album “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” that went for sale of over 30 million copies. The album’s title track made it to many TV shows and films like “The Simpsons” and “That ‘70s Show”. It was also on the US sales chart for two years and made it to top 40 radio hit. He later also founded a new band, Captain Beyond in 1970s after temporarily getting diabanded in 1971. He was found dead in his car outside his house on 21st December, 2012 due to natural cause of heart failure.

He had also played bass guitar in the band ‘Captain Beyond’. While recording In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Dorman assisted Erik Brann with the arrangement of Brann's song "Termination," and was given a co-writing credit.
