Robert Six was well known being CEO of Continental Airlines under whose tenure from 1936 to 1981 the airline experienced its top success and expansion serving various global networks from U.S to Asia-Pacific regions. He started his career journey after receiving pilot’s license in 1929 and purchasing a small two-seater airplane starting his commercial aviation business. He also went for co-pilot job in Chinese National Aviation for a brief period when his one-plane airline went bankrupt. He came back to U.S earning 40% share of Varney Speed Lines and renaming it Continental Airlines. With Continental Airlines, he marched towards success with slow growth of airlines after World War II and winning the route between Chicago, Denver, Kansas City and Los Angeles in 1955. He soon joined the international route of Pacific in 1963 expanding the networks with best quality services and food. He served for 46 years in company retiring in 1982 after which the company declined being owned by Texas Air. He died at the age of 79 on 6th October, 1986 in Beverly Hills, California, U.S.
He was the recipient of Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame in 1971 and was also inducted to National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1980.
He got married three times first one was with Henriette Ruggles getting separated in 1952. He then married Ethel Merman in 1953 getting separated officially in 1960. His next and last marriage was one years later with Audrey Meadows in 1961 that continued till his death.
He was good friend of Edward Acker, former chairman of the board of Pan American Airways.
