About Kun Woo Paik

Kun-Woo Paik is a famous pianist working in South Korea. He started his career since he was just 10 with Korean National Orchestra performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto. He next performed Maurice Ravel’s complete piano work at Lincoln Center followed by appearance at Carnegie Hall making his first international debut that brought him fame worldwide. Kun also went for performance with numerous Orchestras’ in his career as follows
• New York Philharmonic
• Israel Philharmonic Orchestra
• London Symphony Orchestra
• BBC Symphony Orchestra
• St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra
• English Chamber Orchestra with many others.
His work of Prokofiev piano concerto received France’s Diapason d’Or in 1993 and Faure’s piano work also achieved many prizes of France. Further, he recorded 32 Beethovan piano sonatas for Decca in 2005. Some of his recorded work includes

• Rachmaninoff’s The 4 piano concertos (1992)
• J.S Bach ‘s Piano works in transcriptions by Busoni (2000)

He also served as Artistic Director of the Emerald Coast Music Festival in Dinard from 1993 to 2014. Kun currently resides in Paris with family and is preparing for Beethovan’s Piano Concerto No.3 to be held at David Geffan Hall in month of December, 2016.
Achievements
He is the recipient of Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1971 and Order of Cultural Merit in 2010.

He completed his studies at The Juilliard School of New York with Rosina Lhevinne moving to London for study with Ilona Kabos. He also went to Italy with Wilhelm Kempff and Guido Agosti.
