About Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln was recognised worldwide as the 16th President of United States of America having tenure from 1861 to 1865. He was also the first president to be assassinated. As a writer, he was known for Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address (1912), Atlanta Symphony Golden Anniversary (1995) and Words for Battle (1941). He was the first American leader to advocate extending voting rights to women and also wrote about it in 1836. In 1860, he was nominated from Republican Party side for president post and won the election. In his tenure, he made a history by permanently outlawing slavery and led Congress to the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States. He was later assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on 14th April, 1865.
He was honoured with the Hall of Fame for Great Americans in 1900 and for National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1992 as for outstanding American.

His coffin was moved 17 times as due to construction of his tomb. The coffin itself was opened five times.
